As per usual, our May Sit and Sew Day was a hive of activity, and Show and Tell allowed members to show us their wares, so to speak.
Caroline showed of this stunner, with a limited colour palette, which she used to her advantage:
Catherine brought a half square triangle baby quilt with vibrant pops of yellow against greys, blacks and negative space:
Trish, we heart this colourful quilt! (see what I did there?).
And we can definitely see the positives in Sandra’s big plus quilt:
Cathy M debuted her long-awaited Polaroid quilt, an eclectic collection of fussy cut gems, an album of images.
Billie presented her Crumb quilt, made entirely from her scrap bag, with lots of visual treats.
Our Quilt Bees are really ramping up now! This year, we are running multiple bees; Paper Piecing and Improv, and members are returning some stunning work to their Queen Bee each month. Anne set a challenging task for paper piecing, with fab results!
Bronwyn gave her improv worker bees the theme of ‘forest’, and look at the magic they came up with!
And we also caught our first glimpse of the first block of our Travelling Quilts. These quilts will now travel around growing section by section as members contribute to them. We look forward to seeing the finished products!
Thanks very much to Mandy for hosting the day, and to Kristy for the photography.
We’re now gearing up for our June event, our Super Sit and Sew Day, with guest speaker Emma Jean Jansen who is fresh off the plane from Quilt Market and the launch of her new book By the Bundle.
