Our first Super Saturday Sewing Retreat for the year…

Is anybody else looking forward to the first Super Saturday Sewing Retreat for the year? Have you been wondering who our guest speaker is going to be?

We are very excited to announce that Andi Herman from PatchAndi and youpatch.com fame is going to join us! Andi will be sharing her quilting journey, show us her beautiful and very colourful quilts as well as tell us all about her latest quilting venture youpatch.com.

Andi Herman first learned to quilt at age 8 when her grandmother was making her one and only patchwork quilt. Twenty years later, when her grandmother was nearing the end of her life, Andi returned to quilting for therapy and to re-connect with this amazing woman in her life.

Since then, Andi has absolutely caught “the bug” and has made well over 200 quilts of various sizes and styles. She has a fabric stash that could make another 200 quilts (and then some) and she is constantly learning new tips, tricks and ideas to incorporate into her quilting work. Recently, Andi and a small team have created youpatch.com that helps users to create personalised pixel quilt designs based on any image they like.

In another life, Andi is an Occupational Therapist and a teacher in the health sector. She is passionate about the therapeutic value of crafting and community and loves to share her skills and ideas with others. She has a rather lovely husband and 2 gorgeous children who do everything she asks them to do, never have tantrums and always smile sweetly in public. Also, they eat all their vegetables.

Registrations for this event will open on trybooking.com (http://www.trybooking.com/Embed.aspx?eid=74329) at 6pm Saturday 1 February. This will be a no-frills event and the cost will be $30 for Melbourne Modern Quilt Guild Inc. members. Tea, coffee and light refreshments will be provided and members are always welcome to bring a plate to share. Courtesy of Andi, attendees will also receive a promotional coupon code for a discounted YouPatch quilt pattern.

Please note that due to popularity of these events registrations will be limited and only be open to MMQG Inc. members in first instance.
