Australia’s Modern Quilt Show was recently held in the lovely coastal NSW town of Kiama. Hosted by the Wollongong Modern Quilt Guild, the show attracted modern quilts from around Australia. No fewer than 21 MMQG members had made or contributed to quilts that were chosen to exhibit for this show, and several of our members went up to see them in person!
The show featured some stunning modern quilts in the categories of Modern Traditional, Improvisation, Minimalistic Design, Negative Space and Youth Category. Oh, and Group category.
We were thrilled to be awarded first prize in the Group category, for our quilt, Fusion. The design and construction of the quilt was a real team effort by members and it was originally made for, and exhibited at, QuiltCon in Texas earlier this year. The prize was $500 worth of gorgeous fabric, which will be used for future MMQG group quilts and projects.
