It was a full house yesterday at November’s Sit and Sew Day
Our Show and Tell as always uncovered some fantastic quilts
Anna proudly displayed her finished piece, started at the Maze and Vale free form workshop earlier this year, complete with a ray of sunshine backing:
Billie took her inspiration from Gee’s Bend and made a quilt out of her old jeans:
As well as a stunning triangle/flying geese work:
Nicole showed her musical themed quilt, which has even been quilted with musical motifs:
Kay brought in a stunning modern piece, inspired by the late Kathleen Ricketson’s book Brave New Quilts:
And Amy just brought her latest copy of Australian Patchwork and Quilting for Show and Tell. Why? Because her quilt is on the front cover!
Towards the end of the day, some members were treated to an impromptu masterclass in improv piecing with precision as technical guru Amy guided us in construction of MMQG’s submission for Modern Quilt Guild charity quilt. More on that later!!
Members are reminded that the MMQG Inc AGM will be held this Thursday 20 Nov. Check your email for further information, or email info@melbournemodernquiltguild.com if you’ve not received it.
